Celebrating 5 years of success in South Africa

Verder Pumps SA (VPSA), the pumping solutions technology specialist, is celebrating five years of significant growth and development achieved since its launch in December 2002.

The Verder Group, which was founded in The Netherlands in 1959 by Andre Verder, saw a great demand for peristaltic hose pumps in South Africa. VPSA has since firmly established its leading brands, reputation and position in the South African marketplace around the company’s ground-breaking products.

Fastest growing business unit

Over the last five years, the number of pumps sold by VPSA has grown exceptionally. VPSA is the fastest growing business unit of the Verder Group, with 28 branches in 15 countries worldwide, and has attained many records within the group.

General Manager Keith Gass says: “The way we do business and interact with customers and colleagues at all levels, our ability to provide expert advice to solve difficult pumping applications, having the right products available to the market and support them, are all important elements of our success. In 2002 we introduced a new name to the marketplace. Today VPSA is well known and feedback from our customers, old and new, indicates that they recognise and value what we stand for. This is certainly supported by our growing sales and profitability over the past five years.”

Highlights during the past 5 years include outstanding record sales of VF125 peristaltic hose pumps, and the most successful launch of new generation Verderflex Dura pumps since their release in late 2006. VPSA has amplified its market share considerably. The Verderflex pump range has grown in acceptance by the market due to the design features and durability.

Peristaltic pumps, Diapragm pumps and Centrifugal pumps

The past year has seen the expansion and development to the regional dealer network. The company’s staff compliment has also grown. Since pumps specialist, Rob Shaw, joined VPSA the Verderair sales have exploded beyond wildest expectations. With the unique air valve, it is expected that sales for the product with grow exponentially. More significantly the Verdermag sales have escalated in heaps and bounds, being favoured over conventional centrifugal pumps with mechanical seals. Their leak-free feature makes them a hit for applications where environmental aspects must be taken into consideration.

Many factors have been important in establishing VPSA as a company. Gass believes “being close to our customers is integral – both physically and intellectually. We now have, for example, a well-known regional pump dealer network and together with our sales engineers they offer professional knowledge, competitive quotes and technical assistance. Furthermore, increased stock holding and improved delivery time have contributed to our success.”
